The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) sponsors the nation’s largest single-day Food Drive, Stamp Out Hunger, annually on the second Saturday in May. Letter carriers across the country collect non-perishable food donations left by residents near their mailboxes and deliver them to local food banks and pantries. Since its inception in 1993, the food drive has helped to provide millions of meals to those facing food insecurity.
The need for food assistance remains significant in communities across the United States. Participating in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive is a simple yet effective way to contribute to the fight against hunger. By leaving a bag of non-perishable food items next to your mailbox on the designated Saturday, you can directly support your local food bank and help ensure that individuals and families in need have access to nutritious meals.
Registration for the 2025 Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive opens on December 16th for NALC Branches. Rural Offices should coordinate registration with their State Coordinator. For additional information and resources, including a branch lookup tool and contact information for state coordinators, please visit the NALC website.
The Stamp Out Hunger food drive relies on the collective efforts of letter carriers, community members, and partner organizations. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference in the lives of those struggling with hunger. Join the NALC in its mission to Stamp Out Hunger and help strengthen communities across the nation. Follow the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on social media for updates and information.
NALC branch and Rural Office participation is voluntary. To confirm if your local letter carriers are participating, use the online branch lookup tool or contact your local post office. A comprehensive toolkit with resources for participating branches and offices is available to help facilitate successful food drives. Together, we can make a significant impact in the fight against hunger.
