Frys Food Stores, a Kroger Co. subsidiary, has issued a voluntary recall of various cheese dips due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall affects numerous dips sold under the Murray’s, Jarlsberg, and Deli brands at Frys Food Store locations. Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious illness, especially in vulnerable populations like children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of Salmonella infection often include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

The potential contamination stems from onions supplied by Thomson International, Inc., which were recently linked to a Salmonella outbreak. While Frys Food Store promptly removed bulk onions from affected stores on August 1st, it was later discovered that some in-store made cheese dips might have incorporated potentially contaminated red onions.

The recalled cheese dips were sold in plastic containers between May 15, 2020, and August 6, 2020. A comprehensive list of affected products with their corresponding UPC codes is available to consumers. Frys Food Store has taken proactive measures to remove the recalled dips from shelves and notify customers who may have purchased them through register receipts and phone calls.

Customers who have purchased any of the recalled cheese dips should refrain from consuming them and return the product to Frys Food Store for a full refund or replacement.

Frys Food Store urges customers with questions or concerns to contact Kroger Customer Connect at (800) 576-4377. The customer service line operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to midnight EST and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. EST. This recall underscores Frys Food Store’s commitment to food safety and customer well-being. The company is working diligently to address the issue and ensure the safety of its products. The recall affects a wide range of popular cheese dips sold at Frys Food Store locations across the state.
